I am so sad to not be able to rave about this book! Like another reader, I usually finish Julie's books quickly. I started this one several times and finally wanted to finish it when I reached the half way point. The only characters I liked were the romantic interests of the two main characters, as well as Mercy. Jane's naivety was frustrating and even after she started to "woman up"' she was weak. I couldn't believe she never confronted Patrick, after finding out what a cad he was! The descriptions of Thora in the first part of the book made me unable to view her as an attractive woman, inside or out, in the last half as she softened. Both women lack a mature faith. Maybe redemption comes in future books. It seems obvious Rachel and Mercy will be the focus of the next books in the series. Since I have read all of Julie's books, I will read them and hope there is more interesting and believable plots in the series. Her strength is exploring a different occupation, often unique, in each book. She has incredible knowledge about the Regency era. For me, this book would be near the bottom if I ranked her books.Tags : The Innkeeper of Ivy Hill (Tales from Ivy Hill) [Julie Klassen] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. First Series from Bestselling Author Julie Klassen!

The lifeblood of the Wiltshire village of Ivy Hill is its coaching inn,Julie Klassen,The Innkeeper of Ivy Hill (Tales from Ivy Hill),Bethany House Publishers,0764218131,Christian - Historical,Christian - Romance,Romance - Historical - Regency,Christian fiction.,England - Social life and customs - 19th century,Historical fiction,Hotelkeepers,Hotelkeepers;Fiction.,Man-woman relationships,Mothers-in-law,Religious fiction,Romance fiction,Widows,Widows;Fiction.,AMERICAN HISTORICAL FICTION,AMERICAN LIGHT ROMANTIC FICTION,England,England - Social life and customs - 19th century,FICTION Christian Historical,FICTION Christian Romance,FICTION Romance Historical Regency,Fiction,Fiction - Religious,Fiction-Christian,FictionChristian - Romance - General,GENERAL,General Adult,Historical fiction,Historical fiction; romance; Jane Austen; Regency; Christian fiction; Coaching Inn; England; Whiltshire; Ivy Hill; 1810s,Historical fiction;romance;Jane Austen;Regency;Christian fiction;Coaching Inn;England;Whiltshire;Ivy Hill;1810s,Hotelkeepers,Hotelkeepers;Fiction.,Man-woman relationships,Monograph Series, any,Mothers-in-law,Religious fiction,Romance - Historical - Regency,Romance fiction,RomanceGeneral,United States,Widows,Widows;Fiction.,FICTION Christian Historical,FICTION Christian Romance,FICTION Romance Historical Regency,FictionChristian - Romance - General,Fiction - Religious,American Historical Fiction,American Light Romantic Fiction,Fiction
The Innkeeper of Ivy Hill Tales from Ivy Hill Julie Klassen 9780764218132 Books Reviews
If you are expecting a complete story, you will be disappointed. While I understand this is the first book in a series, it introduced numerous story lines with little or no resolution. Each book should stand on its own and not need subsequent books to feel concluded, especially when the next book does not come out for another year.
This book was so slow moving. There were a lot of characters introduced, but hardly any ending to their stories. I don't like not finishing books, so I forced myself to finish this one in hopes that there would be some good in the ending. I was even more disappointed when I go to the end, only to have the author leave it completely open ended.
The Innkeeper of Ivy Hill is the first book in Julie Klassen’s first ever series, Tales From Ivy Hill. I have read every single one of Julie’s novels, so it was a no-brainer for me to preorder this one! However, I was very disappointed…to find that the end of this story leaves me hanging and the next one doesn’t come out until next December! Julie wove her magic just like always, but this time, the story left me hanging in a way I did not appreciate! In all seriousness, The Innkeeper of Ivy Hill is completely fantastic, and I’m soooo glad I added it to my growing collection of Julie Klassen novels. The only reason I’m complaining like this is because Julie didn’t tie up all her ends for a one-novel “happily ever after,” meaning that must be coming in the next novel or two, which is normally fine, except for that fact that I have to wait a year for it!
Each and every of the characters in this novel are wonderful! I fell in love with them instantly, and I kept trying to figure out who would be paired of in the end. I still have my suspicions, especially since two of the characters we read a lot about have yet to find their heroes. That just makes me even more excited for the next book, because I can’t wait to see if they end up with the men I want them to end up with! Plus, I still want to see what happens with the inn.
All in all, I really loved this book, just like all of Julie’s other novels, and I can’t wait to read more in this series! I am so glad that Julie finally decided to start writing series, and I would definitely say that she has done a very good job of it! I can’t imagine not giving this fantastic story anything other than all five bookshelves, and it also has a permanent place on my all-time favorites list. I highly recommend this novel!

This pains me to give it such a low rating. I own and love every other book written by Julie Klassen. This book is really nothing like her other books. I don't know why she decided to write a series but honestly it feels so forced. I can read through one of her books in a day or two, this one took me three weeks. It was so slow paced and I honestly finished it and felt no vested interest in any of the characters.
Does Jane save the Bell and find a romantic interest? Will I have to suffer through another book of painfully slow moving plots to find out? If so, I may just not bother. I'm guessing this was a single book that's been forced into a series because frankly I was bored. Stick to what you do best please Julie.
